In March of 2011, Otto and Associates formed Navis Marine Insurance Brokers, a dedicated Ocean Marine division. Navis is structured as a specialty Insurance Brokerage dedicated to providing insurance protection and coverage for the unique needs of marine-related clientele. The team within the Marine Division is headed up by Paul Mendham, who brings over 20 years of Marine Insurance experience , including claims, underwriting, and brokering. Most recently, Paul was Senior Vice President of Marine for HUB International Insurance Brokers and oversaw a combined Marine portfolio of approximately $10,000,000 in written premiums. The Navis team has experience brokering virtually all classes of marine including building-related risk management solutions, recreational watercraft insurance, and complex marine operations. Navis' crewmembers possess a thorough knowledge of legal statutes, including a high-level understanding of the Marine Liability Act and the Canada Shipping Act. In addition to professional experience with Marine insurance, Navis' team possess intimate personal knowledge of the Marine industry, including experience aboard commercial vessels, race management, serving as Commodore of a yachting club, marine search and rescue, extensive experience with pleasure crafts and recreational boating, and involvement in marina construction. Our personal experience in sailing, boating, and marine activity gives our team a critical edge in understanding our clients needs and ultimately protecting the assets and businesses our clients have worked so hard to build.
Navis Marine Insurance began working with our firm in March 2011. We are pleased to welcome Paul Mendham, Kris Johnson, and Lori Caldwell to our insurance team.
